Black Eyes (spiritually) from Washington, D.C.

Black Eyes formed in Washington, D.C., in 2001. Between September of that year and March of 2004, they played exactly 200 shows and released two full-length albums on Dischord Records. The band did not play between 2004 and 2022.

In July, 2022, Dan, Daniel, Jacob, Hugh, and Mike met at Hugh’s home and began working toward what would become a series of reunion shows timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the release of their first full-length recording. Those happened in April, 2023. Although circumstances of distance and family keep them from playing together quite as much as they would like, they are now active again as Black Eyes.

In the past year, they’ve released a handful of archival recordings and a 44-page zine that chronicles the early history of the band. All of this can be found on their Bandcamp page.
